What informs my work

What informs my work

My psychotherapy work is informed by my extensive training in Gestalt therapy, my social science and Indigenous studies, and my art practice. My belief that an experiential, embodied approach that emphasises the whole person, their environment, attention to the here and now, and focusing on the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative process.

My psychotherapy practice is enhanced by my decades as an artist, teaching adults and children art, working with families in the child protection space, 20 years living on a community and practising yoga.

Often most profound change occurs when the therapist works with a client on emotional, physical and spiritual levels. For this reason, I integrate art and other disciplines into my work – working with figurines, meditation, breath work, art and somatic awareness.

Therapy is about slowing down and paying attention to the moment.

In the spaciousness we are able to wake up and reclaim essentials – aliveness, presence and bodily wisdom. Restoring relational principles back into our lives benefits everyone. Our richness, beauty and power are already within us. Therapy helps remove the obstacles to keep them out of reach. Therapy deepens our connection, not only to self, but to others and our world.

I am a lover of nature, community, breathing, resting in the pause and allowing what is to be.
