You don’t have to be an artist to benefit from Gestalt Art Therapy. Music and visualisations support and ground you as a step to get in touch with your creative capacity.

There are parts of yourself that may not be easily contacted in a busy world of work, study and family life. By contacting these parts, you recover your energy and feel your wholeness.

Your endeavours may be stick figures or blobs. What matters is the process and emotional impact as you draw, paint or create. What you notice, what you become aware of, what you remember as you draw are what are important. In Gestalt art therapy together with the therapist you explore and make sense of your art.

Art is a powerful tool to explore your life and have a better understanding of your situation. Doing art is a way to experience something new and experience doing something different.

Exploring and processing personal metaphors can be powerful in overcoming challenges. As you express yourself with art there is beauty and sacredness in the silence. Working with creative media helps your focus and process grief and fear, express anger and anxiety, relax and feel joy.

Art is an extension of the self and can be a meaningful and powerful way to express what words cannot say.

Do I need to be an artist to benefit from art therapy?

No, not at all. Art is a way to express what words cannot say. Art is often not much to look at – what is important is the benefit. What matters is the process and emotional impact as you draw, paint or create. What you notice, what you become aware of, what you remember as you draw are what are important. Together we will explore and make sense of your art and your process.

What does Gestalt Art Therapy online look like?

You have your materials with you, near your computer or whatever device we are meeting up on. You may use pastel or texta and some plain paper, or other creative media. I demonstrate the process then guide you through the process using your art materials.

Why participate in a Gestalt art workshop?

We are social beings. A workshop is a great way to learn about yourself and relationships. A Gestalt art experience workshop is a space for you to build on your resources and strengths, as you connect with others and experiment with art.

What can I expect at a Gestalt art workshop?

I provide a safe place for self exploration, personal growth and a deeper understanding of yourself and others. Join this workshop if you are interested in personal growth and professional growth. In a Gestalt art experience worshop you will cultivate self awareness and awareness of your environment in relation to other, while attending to the whole of yourself. You will experience breath sensory awareness, movement and lots of art. We use a variety of media such as collage, paint, clay and pastels.
