ABOUT GESTALT THERAPY

Therapy appointments

What days and times do you work?

I work online on Tuesdays, and at West End, Brisbane on Wednesdays and Thursdays. After hours appointments are also available.

Where do you work face to face?

West End, Brisbane or I can come to you, if you are Brisbane based.

How much do you charge?

The cost is $130 for a one hour session.

Are you a health insurance provider?

Yes. If you have health insurance extras cover you may be eligible to claim a portion of the cost.

How many sessions will I need?

The total number of therapy sessions varies. Generally, it is around eight. If the issue is more complex, a longer time frame may be needed and we will discuss what you need. Some clients have therapy for longer periods, attending fortnightly or monthly sessions.

What happens in a session?

In the first session we get to know each other, and we talk about how I can help you and what is happening in your life that you need help with. In further sessions I may invite you to work with figurines or art, to learn more about your situation and make sense of what you are experiencing.

How do I know if this form of therapy is a right fit for me?

I offer you a free 15 minute telephone consultation where we talk about how I can help you.

Do you offer supervision?

Yes. I offer supervision to counsellors, psychologists and students.

Gestalt art therapy

What does Gestalt art therapy online look like?

You have your materials with you near your computer, or whatever device we are meeting up on. You may use pastels or felt tip pens, and some plain paper or other creative media. I demonstrate then guide you through the process using your art materials.

Do I need to be an artist to benefit from art therapy?

No, not at all. Art is a way to express what words cannot say. Art is often not much to look at – what is important is the benefit. What matters is the process and emotional impact as you draw, paint or create. What you notice, what you become aware of, what you remember as you draw, are what are important and together we explore and make sense of.

Why participate in a workshop?

We are social beings. It is a great way to learn about yourself and your relationships. A Gestalt art experience workshop is a space for you to build on your resources and strengths as you connect wth others and experiment with art.

What can I expect at a workshop?

I provide a safe place for self exploration, personal growth and a deeper understanding of yourself and others. Join this workshop if you are interested in personal and professional growth. In a Gestalt art experience workshop you will cultivate self awareness and awareness of your environment, in relation to others while attending to the whole of yourself. You will experience breath sensory awareness, movement and lots of art. We use a variety of media such as collage, paint, clay and pastels.

Do you run courses for professionals?

I do. In 2024 I am running an Art Therapy course for therapists and counsellors. This course will run for four weeks and will be offered online. More information can be found here.
